Here are some important tips on how to make ginger shots.
Use fresh ingredients: Using fresh ginger and turmeric root gives the shot a stronger, stronger flavor and higher nutritional value compared to powdered versions. Use organic ingredients: Organic ingredients are free of harmful pesticides, so your body absorbs only pure, natural goodness packed with antioxidants and immune-boosting properties. Do not peel the skin of ginger. It may come as a surprise, but ginger root peel is rich in fiber and beneficial polyphenols. Use a spoon to peel the turmeric. Turmeric peel is harmless. However, it doesn’t have much effect, so if you want to remove it, a spoon is best. Wear gloves to avoid stains. Turmeric can easily stain hands and surfaces. Therefore, it is recommended to wear gloves when peeling the juice or straining it through cheesecloth. Use a high-speed blender or juicer: A high-powered blender or juicer will extract the most juice and effectively break down the tough ginger and turmeric fibers. (I use a Vitamix blender.) Add filtered water to reduce the stinging sensation. Fresh ginger root juice packs a powerful punch. You can add up to 1/2 cup of filtered water to my recipe to reduce potency. Use glass containers: Store shots in glass bottles or jars to preserve freshness and avoid contaminating plastic containers.
Adding black pepper to ginger turmeric shot just before drinking increases its bioavailability.
According to the Johns Hopkins Medical Journal, there’s a science behind adding black pepper to a ginger-turmeric shot recipe.
Black pepper contains piperine, a compound that can increase the bioavailability of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric. Additionally, piperine can increase the body’s absorption rate of curcumin by up to 2,000%.
All you need is about 1/20 teaspoon of black pepper and it completely changes the game. Piperine and curcumin activate quickly, so it is recommended to add black pepper just before eating.
Now, let’s make the ginger shot recipe!

How long can homemade ginger shots be stored in the refrigerator?
Ginger shots can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. However, for maximum freshness and potency, it’s best to drink it within 3-4 days. Separation is normal, so be sure to shake the shot well before drinking. Also, do not forget about black pepper.
If you have extra and want to keep it longer, consider freezing your shots. When frozen, it will stay in good condition for up to 6 months. When packing in glass containers, leave a little space at the top as it will expand when frozen. To drink, thaw in a glass of room temperature water for about an hour, then drink immediately.
This ginger turmeric shot recipe has become a staple in my daily health regimen, and I think it will be your new favorite. Not to mention, it costs less to make an entire week’s supply than it would cost to buy just one store-bought item. 😱
