Victims of a $12.5 million jewelry robbery in London have offered a reward of up to $1.9 million to help recover the jewelry and catch the thieves.
Part of the property reportedly belongs to Shafira Huang, an Instagram influencer and art collector who is said to be a millionaire.
A lone suspect climbed through a second-floor window of a property in the upscale Primrose Hill area of north London on December 7 and made off with jewelry and designer handbags worth more than $188,000, the Metropolitan Police said. .
The force released security camera images showing the suspect wearing a black hoodie and gray baseball cap, his face hidden.
Items taken in the break-in included numerous distinctive jewel-encrusted necklaces and bracelets, a Hermès crocodile Kelly handbag, and $19,000 in cash.
Other items stolen were two De Beers butterfly diamond rings, Katherine Wang’s butterfly-shaped pink sapphire earrings, and a gold, diamond, and sapphire Van Cleef necklace, the BBC reported. .
Detective Inspector Paulo Roberts of the Metropolitan Police Department said: “This was a brazen crime in which the suspect entered the property with an unknown weapon and violated the sanctuary of the victim’s home.”
“The suspects stole jewelery worth £10.4 million, much of it sentimental and unique in design and therefore easily identifiable,” it added.
A family spokesperson told Metro they believe the robbery was a “pre-planned professional job.”
“Everyone is safe, but had staff entered the room sooner, they would have been in direct confrontation with the robber in just 63 seconds,” the spokesperson said. “I can assure you that all the windows in the house were closed.”
The homeowners, who were not on the property at the time of the robbery, are offering $625,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
