An award-winning luxury interior designer was arrested and charged with drink-driving after appearing to be intoxicated during a Christmas outing. Edward Yedid, 46, was reportedly driving a silver Porsche when he collided with an oncoming car in the Hamptons on December 25th.
The New York Post reported on January 1 that the suspect told the family of the person who was driving the car he crashed during a drunken accident, saying, “I’m sorry, but my car is going really fast.” It was reported that.
Edward Yedid was apparently drunk and driving at an unreasonable speed.
Yedid, best known as the co-founder of architecture and design firm Glade New York, is believed to have been speeding on East Hampton Road around 2:30 p.m. He eventually changed lanes unexpectedly and crashed into an oncoming BMW, according to police records. The two-vehicle accident involved a 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S sports car owned by the 46-year-old married father and a 2016 black BMW SUV carrying three family members.

Arianna Thomas, 30, was one of the passengers who was “casually driving” along Newtown Lane. A party of three, including her partner and father, were heading to the movies to see Wicked. “…This guy drives around (corners) in a silver Porsche,” Thomas said of Yedid. She told the Post that her father’s quick actions prevented an even worse scenario. “We had just a second to react and he just hit us.”
Family of 3 crashes: rescued from head-on collision
Thomas’ father, who was driving a BMW SUV, swerved to avoid a head-on collision with Yedid’s Porsche. As a result, Home Designer’s vehicle collided with the left front of the other vehicle. Ariana, who witnessed and experienced the horrific situation firsthand, said she could immediately smell the smell of alcohol when Edward Yedid came out of the car. “When he got out of the car, he was dressed head to toe in designer clothes and his eyes were completely bloodshot,” she added. Yedid defended himself and told his family: “I’m sorry, my car is driving very fast.” He also checked to see if they were hurt. But Thomas told her not to talk to him.
Supporting the passenger’s claims, a police officer at the scene said Yedid was “unsteady on his feet” and “his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.” The arrest report said there was an apparent “odor of alcoholic beverages coming from (Yedid’s) breath.”
The 46-year-old man “performed poorly on standardized practical tests.” He was arrested shortly after a breath sample was taken. His blood alcohol content has not yet been disclosed.

Injuries and charges revealed
Three family members and Yedid sustained minor injuries and were treated at a hospital. Thomas was sad that he and his family had to spend Christmas in the hospital. She suffered a bruise to her right knee, and her partner suffered a cut to his nose and bruises to his head. Her father was suffering from back pain.
The designer was arrested and taken to Southampton Hospital, but was released. He was requested to return to the police station on December 27 for arrest proceedings. He has since been charged with driving under the influence, inattention, exceeding the speed limit, and driving an uninspected vehicle. Although released, Yedid’s arraignment is scheduled in court on January 8th.
