Some Social Security recipients may have received money in their bank accounts early on New Year’s Eve.
This is not a mistake and is due to the difference in the number of days listed on the benefit program calendar. Social Security payments for most beneficiaries are paid on Wednesdays of each month. For example, if your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of each month, your salary will be paid on the second Wednesday of each month. According to the Social Security Administration’s calendar, if you were born between the 11th and 20th, your paycheck will be paid on the third Wednesday of the month.
However, those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) must receive their January 2025 payment on December 31, 2024. SSI benefits are usually paid on the first of the month. However, if the first day falls on a weekend or federal holiday, in this case New Year’s Day, it will be issued earlier.
More than 7.4 million Americans receive SSI, which provides monthly payments beyond traditional Social Security benefits to people with disabilities and limited means. About half of people who receive SSI also receive Social Security.
Since 99% of beneficiaries are paid electronically, their January 2025 SSI payments should arrive on Tuesday, December 31st.

When will my SSI payments be made?
SSI payments are typically sent on the first business day of each month. According to the Social Security Administration, if the first day of the month falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, benefits will be paid on the business day before the due date.
According to the SSA calendar, December 1st was a Sunday, so the December SSI payment was made on Friday, November 29th.
Due to January 1st being a holiday, January SSI payments are always paid early. This year, January’s payment arrived on Tuesday, December 31st.
SSI payments: Some issues with upcoming calendars
The speciality of the calendar continues until 2025. According to the 2025 SSA calendar, SSI beneficiaries will receive their February 2025 payment on January 31, 2025, and their March 2025 payment on February 28, 2025. This means that SSI recipients will no longer receive payments during the calendar month of March.
In May, SSI recipients will receive two checks. According to the SSA calendar, May SSI payments will be issued on May 1st and June SSI payments will be issued on May 30th. As in March, in June, SSI beneficiaries will not receive a payment for that calendar month.
Also in August, SSI recipients will receive two checks (August payment on August 1st and September payment on August 29th), but the payment will not be made in September of the calendar month. will not be performed.

What is SSI?
SSI, also known as Supplemental Security Income, provides monthly payments to people with limited income or assets who are over 65, blind, or have a qualifying disability. According to the SSA website, children with eligible disabilities can also receive SSI.
