Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to reporters Monday after Week 17’s win over the Cowboys and was asked a number of questions about whether he plans to start or rest Sunday’s game against the Giants. He also talked about Tanner McKee’s impressive performance and gave a lot of credit to Cam Jurgens for the team’s success this season.
The head coach said:
Latest information on starting lineups and injuries
Sirianni said he is not yet ready to make or announce a decision on whether his starting pitchers will be available, especially whether Saquon Barkley has a chance to set the all-time rushing record. He gave the players Monday off and said he would make sure to let them know about the decision before making it public.
The head coach also had no updates on Jalen Hurts or his progress in concussion protocol. If Hurts is suspended this week, Sirianni wouldn’t say whether he would play Sunday against the Giants, only saying he has to do what’s best for the team and what’s best for the individual players. Ta.
There also hasn’t been an update on Kenny Pickett after the quarterback underwent additional testing on his ribs. Sirianni praised Pickett and the toughness with which he played through the pain and played really good football that helped win the game. The head coach had no further information on whether Pickett would play Sunday against the Giants.
Although he hasn’t made a decision yet, Sirianni explained that if he chooses to rest his starting pitching, it would be a good opportunity for depth players to gain experience and shoot.
“Again, we don’t know what that situation is yet. But any time you can get someone in the NFL to repeat games or record meaningful snaps, it’s a huge This will provide an evaluation process for players who have not had the opportunity to play in the past.
If you can do that, that’s always a big thing. As I said earlier, we will see what the future holds, but if this is the path we should take, it will be a good opportunity. ”
About Tanner McKee’s performance
“Obviously he went 3-for-4 with two touchdowns, which is pretty good. Then he threw another one and AJ (Brown) probably made one of the best catches I’ve ever seen. He just happened to go a little outside the frame, but the ball was in the right place. He went to the right place with the football.
That’s accurate when it comes to soccer. Our attack worked well. He took care of the checks. Communication at the line of scrimmage and in the huddle was healthy. He did a lot of good things. ”
About Cam Jurgens’ season
“I think he’s done a really great job. It’s never easy to replace a legend, but we all know what a special player and leader Jason Kelce was, so I think he did a great job in that role. I had to do a great job, and I think I did a really great job.
Obviously, look at everything first. It looks like they have 13 wins. Cam (Jurgens) is the centerpiece of a 13-win soccer team. For that to happen, he has to play well. He played well to help us do that.
You have a 2,000-yard rusher, which is special. For that to happen, the center also has to play well.
I think all the writing is on the wall about how good he’s been playing football and all the good things he’s done based on what this team has been doing. It wasn’t always easy to do what he needed to do there, but he’s played really good football over the last 16 games.”

Sirianni explained that he had Jake Elliott handle kickoffs instead of Brandon Mann against the Cowboys because he focused on specific ball placement with Kavonte Turpin as returner. The head coach called Turpin a dangerous player and credited the Eagles’ special teams unit for containing the situation. With postseason games already scheduled, Sirianni was asked if his staff would begin preparing for potential playoff opponents. The head coach dismissed that idea, saying they are just focusing on one day at a time and preparing for the game against the Giants. When asked about the defense finally getting points, Sirianni said it’s something they work on and talk about every day, and sometimes things happen in clusters. He also said that once players start getting turnovers, they have a little more confidence and experience and are able to stay on track.
