BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A woman was pepper-sprayed when an assailant tried to steal a luxury handbag the victim had just purchased at Boca Raton Town Center, authorities said.
The Boca Raton Police Department (BRPD) is searching for those involved in an attempted robbery that occurred in the east parking lot of 6000 W Glades Road Sunday just after 4:30 p.m.
Police said the victim was walking from the mall to her car with shopping bags when a man who attempted to rob her approached her and pepper-sprayed her. The suspect then tried to grab the handle of the shopping bag, leading to a scuffle. The robbery suspect fled on foot without the bag, and the victim sustained minor injuries.
Police say the assailant is a white woman of average height, approximately 30 to 50 years old, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark-colored pants.

Police officers searched the area but did not find the attempted robber. Police said the victim appeared to have been kicked out of the department store after purchasing a luxury handbag.
