TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A local business is making some major upgrades to better serve you, thanks to a $1.5 million grant. .
United Way of the Wabash Valley awarded grants to 26 Terre Haute businesses. This funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act.
The city allocated the funds to United Way. The organization then awarded funding through its Small Business Grants Program. The goal is to improve the local economy and keep more money at home.
Once just one manicurist, Nails by Nikki now helps other small businesses get started.
It’s all done through small business grants.
Lorri Nikki Voltmer has been doing nails since 1994. Since then, she has grown her nail empire with the support of friends and family.
Now, with the support of the community, she is able to get a head start on other businesses.
“I’m very grateful, very blessed, and I’m going to do the best I can,” Boltmer said.
With the $63,000 Voltmer received, she plans to build six new suites that businesses can use as office or salon space.
She says she welcomes all types of businesses, from hairstylists to eyelash experts to insurance agents.
After meeting with the contractor, you will know how long construction will take. But her goal is to have things up and running by spring 2025.
“I’m so excited to be able to do this. I’m going to take out a loan to cover what I couldn’t take out. I’m looking forward to it, but it’s going to be a little stressful, for me,” Boltmer said. Of course, but it’s still very, very exciting. ”
Voltmer says she looks forward to sharing the environment she and her employees have built with their customers.
“We are so blessed to have our customers and their loyalty.”
Nails by Nikki is still looking for new businesses to fill the suites. These spots will be available once construction is complete in 2025.
