If Santa brought me a lot of money for Christmas, I would buy these beautiful luxury houses. As you can probably tell by now, my heart is firmly planted in the preservation community, and my heart flutters when I see historic homes. As such, three of these are iconic historical homes. But there’s a 1999 home at 10540 Lenox Lane in Preston Hollow that you’ll want to move into right away.
What we love about this luxury home in Preston Hollow
It’s Tudor style, one of my favorite home styles. No matter the size, Tudor has character, is warm and welcoming, and always makes you feel at home, no matter the size. The property is over 17,000 square feet and has two ponds and its own well on over four acres. I’ve rarely seen a home that has it all, but this one certainly does. A perfect quintessential English country house in the heart of Preston Hollow. I wouldn’t change anything about that.

Historic home overlooking Turtle Creek
Take a look at this historic Mediterranean blue tile roof and say hello! It sits on just over two acres and was once owned by Robert Edsel. You may remember that he wrote a book called Monuments Men, which was made into a movie written, directed, and starring George Clooney. What would I change about it? This is a truly unique property in Dallas, so I wouldn’t mind it at all if it needed upkeep or repairs. Honestly, if you’re buying in this price range and are complaining about fixing something, don’t worry. Because someone with style, flair, and an appreciation for history is destined to own this iconic home.

Charles Dilbeck and Cole Smith build a luxurious fairytale home
This is a great example of one genius bringing the work of another into this century. Charles Dilbeck designed this house in 1948, which was his last Franco-Norman design. Cole Smith expanded it and added a second-floor principal suite, all in the original Franco-Norman style. The ultimate enhancement to this 1.6 acre property is the landscaping. It’s a fairytale paradise of babbling streams, winding paths, and lush vegetation. All credit to Steve Giovannini for his vision. Again, I wouldn’t change anything in this house other than changing the color of the dining room walls. It will take approximately 4 hours.

Who can resist a luxury home with a name on it?
Last but not least, and perhaps because I love East Dallas, the place I end up buying is the Elizabethan-style Bossam Manor. Does that mean you can’t help but love a house that has a name on it?
It is named after the British architect Lord Alfred Botham, who designed and built the house. It sits on just over an acre in a prime Lakewood location and features 35 closets. Sold! Yes, yes, it needs a little work, but let’s do it again! An iconic home in a great location yet at an affordable price.
Allie Beth Allman Clifton Kessler has 6835 Westlake Avenue available for purchase for $4.6 million. That, dear reader, is a steal. I wish Santa would have cooperated and brought me that bag of money!
