Phoenix – We may have seen the last of Kali Lake in Arizona politics.
The former FOX 10 Phoenix anchor made the announcement on X, saying he didn’t want to put himself and his family through the “pain of running again.”
Lake was asked at America Fest earlier this month whether he would run for governor again in 2026. Lake responded by focusing instead on supporting President-elect Donald Trump.
Current Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs (Democratic) defeated Lake in the 2022 election by just one point, 50.3% to 49.6%.
Even after the certification and the case went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, Mr. Lake never conceded defeat.
In November 2024, Lake settled a defamation lawsuit with Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer over comments he made alleging that Arizona’s 2022 election was fraudulent.
Details of the settlement have not been made public.
Watch FOX 10 Phoenix Live:
In 2024, Lake lost to Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Ruben Gallego by a margin of 2.5 percentage points.
She was subsequently selected by President Trump to be the next director of Voice of America.
Arizona’s next gubernatorial election is scheduled for 2026.
Lake’s opponent in the 2022 Republican primary, Karyn Taylor Robson, was endorsed by President Trump at the America Fest event held at the Phoenix Convention Center.
Taylor Robson lost to Lake in the primary by a margin of 47.9% to 43.1%.
