Pilgrims from around the world are passing through the open holy doors of St. Peter’s Basilica, opened by Pope Francis on Christmas Eve to begin the 2025 Jubilee Year.
Believers from different parts of the world and from different walks of life have already passed through the open holy door symbolizing Christ.
In his Christmas message, Pope Francis recalled: Let’s get back to him. Let’s return to a heart that loves and forgives us. ”
“Let us forgive ourselves to Him, let us be reconciled to Him. God always forgives, God forgives everything. Let us forgive ourselves to Him,” the Pope encouraged. .
“This is the meaning of the Holy Door of the Jubilee,” Pope Francis emphasized. “It represents Jesus, the door of salvation open to all.”
“Jesus is the door that our merciful Father has opened in the midst of the world, in the midst of history, so that we can all turn to Him,” he added.
“Fear not, brothers and sisters. The door is open, wide open. There is no need to knock,” the Pope said, simply walking past.
On Thursday, the holy doors of Rebibia Prison were also opened. In the coming days, other holy doors will also be opened in Rome.
In addition to St. Peter’s Basilica, the opening day of the other three papal cathedrals in Rome is December 29th in the Basilica of St. John Lateran. St. Mary’s Cathedral on January 1, 2025. and St. Paul outside the walls on January 5, 2025.
The Jubilee Year of Hope, which celebrates the 2,025th anniversary of the birth of Jesus, will officially end on January 6, 2026.
