Warren senior center back Chase Sittler was named to the Erie Times-News All-District 10 Big School Team for the second year in a row. For the second year in a row, Sittler and junior midfielder Quinn Norris have been named first-team regional all-stars.
After being in Region 4 last year, Warren moved from Class 2A to 3A to Region 5 this season. The Dragons lost to Meadville in the District 10 3A playoffs, and the Bulldogs lost to General McLean for the D10 title.
This year’s Region 5 first and second-place teams, in addition to the Lancers and Bulldogs, had more players from McDowell’s team, which finished one win, two and three ahead of Warren in the regional standings. The Trojans were D10 4A champions.
“Quinn and Chase have been very consistent for us for a long time.” Warren coach Stephen Blair said: “We have always relied on them as players and leaders, and they have always approached the game the right way. It is special for them to receive this recognition in a region so talented. Of course.”
Defensively, Sittler replaced Warren on the back line with 278 steals (10-8). A fourth-year starter, team captain, and Defensive Player of the Year his senior season, he finished his high school career with 691 stolen bases in 69 games.
Norris scored 23 points (7 goals, 9 assists) this season and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. In midfield, he is the team captain and last year’s Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, and this season, as a junior, he led the Dragons with 338 stolen bases in 16 games.
“Although we didn’t receive recognition, we felt there were several other players who had seasons worthy of All-Region honors.” Blair said. “To name a few, Trey (Carrington) finished the season with 279 steals and was a problem for every team we played this year. Jack (Chapman)’s contribution of 21 goals in 18 games shouldn’t be overlooked. Casey (Rich) added over 250 steals, last 2. It was a big reason for our defensive stability over the season. We have a long list of talented players and they have a lot to be proud of.”
