The Lions took a 3-0 lead on Jake Bates’ 30-yard field goal on their first possession.
Detroit recovered a fumble in the Bears’ 36 resulting from a missed handoff on a jet sweep by quarterback Caleb Williams and receiver Roma Odunze.
The Lions converted the takeaway into a 1-yard touchdown run by Jahmil Gibbs, increasing their lead to 10-0 with 5:34 left in the first quarter.
After a 19-yard reception and a force-and-recovery of Odunze’s fumble at the Lions’ 40, Detroit extended the lead to 13-0 with a 34-yard field goal by Bates.
The Lions went up 20-0 with Jared Goff’s 82-yard touchdown pass to receiver Jameson Williams.
With 6:31 left in the first half, Williams completed a 1-yard TD pass to Cole Kmet, cutting the Bears’ lead to 20-7. Williams completed a 13-yard run to Odunze on a fourth-and-3 from the Detroit 31, sustaining a 14-play, 70-yard drive.
