Warner Bros. Discovery is creating a new management team for its U.S. television networks business, which will soon report to Channing Dungey. Mr. Dungey also runs WBD’s television studio group and will increase his oversight of the U.S. television network following the retirement of Kathleen Finch.
Dungey announced the new structure on Wednesday.
“I am pleased to announce the core US Networks leadership team that will build on the foundation established by Kathleen and drive a new creative vision and distribution plan that is best suited for our audiences, partners and business,” Dungey said in a statement. ” he said. “This powerful group will strengthen our linear business while continuing to develop the content engine that feeds Max and intelligently leverages our unparalleled IP to create the programming we promote. We are committed to redefining the role of the US network.”
The management team includes Brett Paul, who will become COO of the new group in addition to his current role as president of Warner Bros. TV Group. Howard Lee was promoted to chief creative officer and continued as president of content for TLC and Discovery. Lee will work on strategy across the network, at Max and around the world. Sudan Kohler will become Chief Financial and Strategy Officer, while Karen Bronzo will continue as Group CMO.
WBD’s U.S. network group includes TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Discovery Channel, TruTV, Investigation Discovery and more. Dungey will run both the company’s networks and TV studios, but the company has created a new corporate structure built around traditional linear TV networks in one division and studios and streaming in another.
