CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Business Center will require some demolition work as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to transform it into the future Casper Police Department headquarters, and the Casper City Council has signed an Eagle Environment agreement for partial demolition and asbestos abatement. After reduction of the base bid of $5.3 million, the total contract amount is listed as $4,378,472, with a contingency of $221,528. Funding will come from American Rescue Plan Act funds and CARES Act funds.
Eagle Environmental will remove asbestos-containing areas, including the roof and all windows. The project’s architect, Police Facilities Design Group, recommended that the first phase of the construction project be contracted separately from the demolition so that the design and engineering work could be completed at the same time.
In 2022, the Casper City Council voted to purchase a downtown building with the intention of eventually using it as a home for the Casper Police Department and Information Technology Department.
