Additional tips to learn how to make muddy friends:
Feel free to make it your own by mixing in other add-ins that sound good, like nuts or pretzels. You can use a variety of Chex cereals for this idea, and Rice Chex makes it a gluten-free option. The muddy friends can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. For easy serving, consider using a handy kitchen scoop to serve.

I think this idea has become a little more popular this year because my teenagers have been asking to make them for sleepovers and get-togethers with friends. For a healthier alternative, some people use vanilla protein powder, unsweetened chocolate, and powdered monk fruit to create trendy protein “muddy buddies.”
Pack into jars or bags and share an easy and frugal snack as a gift with friends and family.
Check out the white chocolate version of Chex Muddy Buddies.
I made this version years ago using the vanilla variety of Chex cereal. Instead of M&Ms, I swapped out the chocolate chips for white chocolate chips and festive snowflake sprinkles. This recipe makes a cute snack perfect for a Frozen themed party or special playdate.
