With all-inclusive fares, gourmet dining, spacious suites with private balconies, and attentive service being hallmarks of each luxury cruise line, it’s up to you to decide which brand and ship is right for your next luxury vacation. It’s difficult.
While all major luxury cruise lines have their own signature style, there are cruise lines that stand out by offering more choice in vacation services, greater innovation, and offering luxury cruises that are a step above the competition. there is. That’s why we’ve named Silversea Cruises the 2024 TPG Award winner for Best Luxury Cruise Line.
Silversea is an all-inclusive cruise line with fares that include fine dining at multiple venues onboard, premium alcoholic beverages and specialty coffee, crew gratuities, standard Wi-Fi, and shore excursions at each port. It is. When you book a door-to-door fare, you’ll also receive private transportation and airfare.
The ship has all the hallmarks of luxury cruising. Most accommodations are suites with separate living and sleeping areas, private lanais, walk-in closets, and ample marble bathrooms. Even the smallest cabin has a viewing window and a sitting area.
In-flight meals take travelers on a gastronomic journey around the world, including the French multi-course La Dame. Indochinese cuisine, Seishin cuisine, and Kaiseki cuisine that enhance the taste of Asia. La Terrazza and Spaccanapoli offer authentic Italian cuisine.
With a nearly 1:1 staff to guest ratio, onboard service is always attentive and attentive. You might even get tired of the waiter carrying your plates or bringing you your favorite drink.
But we expect the same amenities you’d find on a cruise line that dares to advertise itself as a luxury brand. Here are five areas where Silversea outperforms its competitors.
Fleet size and type
Silversea has the largest fleet of any major luxury cruise line for North Americans. The company’s 12 ships range in size from the 100-passenger Silver Origin, which sails exclusively to the Galapagos Islands, to two new ships, the Silver Ray and Nova, which have the best space-to-guest ratio and energy in the industry. Equipped with: efficient design.

The reason for this extensive fleet is that this cruise line offers two different categories of ships. The eight ships, with passenger capacities ranging from 392 to 728, are typical (but upscale) ocean-going ships offering leisure travel around the world.
The remaining four ships are smaller (100-274 passengers) and belong to the line’s hardy expedition fleet. These ships specialize in more adventurous voyages to remote locations such as the Antarctic, Arctic, Galapagos and South Pacific. Led by an expedition team of historians, scientists and cultural experts, it offers a different atmosphere of education as entertainment. Active exploration through hiking and kayaking outings. and a focus on local culture and wildlife.
With a variety of onboard styles and amenities, Silversea offers guests a new experience on every vacation, so you don’t have to explore new routes every time you plan another cruise. Additionally, the line’s Venetian Society loyalty program offers repeat passengers even more benefits, from discounts to free cruises.
Unique itineraries to each continent
With a fleet of 12 ocean and expedition vessels, Silversea can offer itineraries to every continent, from pole to pole, something many competitors are unable to do. The company claims that its ships sail to more than 900 destinations each year, with very little coastline not visited.
Of course, Silversea cruisers can visit all the classic cruising regions, including the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and Alaska. Expect to see more secluded ports with a yacht-like feel. The ship may dock in Giardini Naxos, Sicily. Casablanca, Morocco. Gustavia, St. Barts. or Wrangell, Alaska.
But Silversea isn’t content to stick to a tried-and-true itinerary. For example, Silver Origin is the only major luxury cruise line with a fleet dedicated to the Galapagos and operates year-round week-long cruises from San Cristobal Island.
Three of the expedition’s expedition vessels will spend the southern hemisphere summer in Antarctica. (The cruise line was an early trendsetter in luxury voyages to Antarctica.) Guests can choose to sail from Puerto Williams on the southern tip of Chile across the Drake Passage to the Antarctic Peninsula. Or choose a shorter itinerary focused on the southernmost tip of the continent, soaring above the Drake River over winding belly waves and boarding a boat at King George Island.
The luxury brand is building a hotel in Puerto Williams where guests will stay before cruises and flights. Once completed, it will be the southernmost hotel in the world.
Silversea also offers itineraries to bucket-list destinations in the Arctic, Africa and the Indian Ocean, French Polynesia and the Pacific Islands, South America, Australia/New Zealand, and Asia. The route began operating in Australia’s remote Kimberley region before it was on the radar of many other cruise lines. (As of this year, we will likely see more small ship operations.)
Simply put, its reach is unbeatable.
Butler in each suite
One of the reasons travelers choose luxury cruise lines is to feel pampered, and Silversea takes that desire seriously. That’s why we offer 24-hour butler service in every suite on every ship, as well as top-of-the-line accommodations like on some lines.
Silversea’s butlers will take all the frustrating logistical chores off your to-do list during your vacation, so you can focus on relaxing by the pool and sampling all of our signature cocktails. They unpack your bags, make restaurant reservations, take off your laundry, and return it perfectly folded. If you leave your sunglasses on the counter, they will be neatly wrapped in a microfiber cloth to prevent scratches.
But Silversea butlers can also add some magic to your luxury vacation. We are happy to deliver complimentary champagne and caviar on request or every afternoon. Pull an aromatherapy bath, serve gourmet hot chocolate on your balcony, or bring out truffled popcorn while you enjoy a movie indoors. They can even help you host a cocktail party in your cabin for your newfound cruise friends.
And this great service is made even more special when it’s delivered by a butler wearing a tuxedo and white gloves with a friendly smile.
Immersive destination experiences through food
Each luxury cruise line stands out for its breathtaking cuisine, serving up the best cuisine from around the world in stunning grand dining rooms and intimate specialty restaurants. Silversea’s innovative SALT (Sea And Land Taste) program lets you immerse yourself in the destination through taste and drink with fine cuisine.
On some ships, you can dine in two restaurants with different menus depending on the region you sail. SALT Kitchen is the main dining room offering a regionally inspired menu during dinner, with half of the menu reflecting the wider region and the other half changing daily based on the current port of call. SALT Lab introduces guests to the destination’s cuisine with an intimate chef’s table just for dinner, featuring an 11-course meal paired with cocktails and wine.
If you’re looking for a drink to gain some cultural knowledge, check out SALT Bar, which specializes in craft cocktails inspired by the ports of call on your itinerary. It may disappear from the menu as the ship moves on, so if you like concoctions, eat your fill.
For hands-on learners, Silversea offers the SALT Experience, a culinary-inspired shore excursion that visits markets, farms, restaurants, and wineries. There, you’ll meet locals who are carrying on the region’s food traditions or leading the way in culinary innovation. Or, go to the Salt Lab on a beach day and learn how to make local dishes under the guidance of a cooking teacher.
Silversea knows that today’s travelers are passionate about having authentic encounters and enjoying top-notch local cuisine in the places they visit. We combine these two goals into one and enhance sailing through food-themed activities.
The most innovative new luxury cruise ship
Royal Caribbean Group absorbed Silversea into its portfolio of cruise brands in 2020 and has since shared its creativity with adopted luxury lines. As a result, Silversea’s two newest ships, Silver Nova and Silver Ray, are the most innovative new luxury ships in service today.
The line reimagined cruise ship design from the ground up, creating an unprecedented asymmetrical design that incorporates light and views into most public spaces. The top deck pool is located on one side of the ship, rather than in the middle, so bathers always have a view of the ocean or harbor. All elevators are glass-encased, so you can admire the view while you wait to return to your suite or head to dinner.
No matter where you are on the ship, you feel like you’re immersed in the outside environment, rather than being trapped inside the ship and forgetting where you are in the world.
The ship also has a more modern and youthful feel than many luxury ships. The new restaurant’s menu reflects Italian and French culinary trends (rather than sticking to the classics), and the SALT bar utilizes all the latest cocktail mixing techniques.
Additionally, these ships, which are some of the most spacious on the seas, negate the notion that a ship carrying hundreds of passengers must be crowded. Silversea executives argue that even if all the passengers on a full cruise showed up on the pool deck at the same time, there would still be plenty of space to themselves. All suites have plenty of space, with the smallest suite on the ship measuring 357 square feet, including a 56 square foot balcony.
conclusion
Silversea takes all the hallmarks of an all-inclusive small ship cruise and adds a unique twist to give high-end travelers a wealth of options for hassle-free vacations around the world. The company continues to tailor its services to the modern traveler while delivering the luxury vacations that its loyal customers love. There’s a good reason why this line stands out in the increasingly crowded luxury liner field.
