A Congressional investigation into sexual misconduct allegations at a troubled veterans facility in Tennessee has revealed that at least 12 employees who worked there participated in orgies and one employee sexually assaulted 32 different co-workers. It was revealed that they had engaged in sexual intercourse.
Several VA employees in the state have resigned as the investigation into Mountain Home Veterans Affairs Medical Center, also known as James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, intensifies, Breitbart News reported.
A biomedical employee in the bargaining unit had sexual relationships with 32 different women who worked at the facility, and he and several women bragged about it on an online government communications portal used by Veterans Affairs officials to communicate. , a source told the media.
At least two employees publicly said they had sex on VA hospital grounds, the report said.
Breitbart reported that 12 employees also participated in the orgy, but it was not yet clear whether it took place on government property.
“The fact that the culture would allow something like this to happen in the first place is completely outrageous, and it all starts at the top,” a senior congressional aide familiar with the investigation told Breitbart News on Tuesday.
At least four employees, including biomedical staff and Mountain Home facility director Dean Borsos, have resigned over the allegations, which may date back to 2020.
The House Veterans Affairs Committee sent a letter to Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough in July asking for an investigation into the sordid allegations after veterans officials raised concerns with the committee.
Committee Chairman Michael Bost (R-Ill.) wrote a second letter to McDonough in August after receiving no response from Biden administration officials. Both letters requested extensive documentation from the facility.
Since July, Bost said, “whistleblowers have contacted commission staff and provided further details and information about further allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and inappropriate relationships at the Mountain Home VA. It is said that the facility’s leadership was not aware of this.” Appropriately address matters previously unknown to committee staff.
“This new information is extremely concerning and the committee believes there may be serious cultural issues at the Mountain Home VA,” he added.
Representative Diana Hershberger (R-Tenn.) and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) both expressed support for the investigation.
“The allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault at the Mountain Home Veterans Affairs Medical Center are serious and disgusting, and American taxpayers deserve thorough and immediate answers from the Inspector General’s ongoing investigation.” Blackburn told local news station WJHL in a statement in August.
“This is not the first time the Veterans Administration has been the subject of a scandal under the Biden-Harris Administration, and the parties responsible must be held accountable,” she said.
The investigation could end under President-elect Donald Trump’s new nomination to head the Veterans Affairs Caucus, Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.). Collins has been a vocal critic of the Department of Veterans Affairs in the past.
The department has more than 370,000 health care workers tasked with providing a variety of services to veterans.
