Three MetroWest public middle schools are ranked in the state’s top 20, according to the recently released U.S. News & World Report 2024-25 school year rankings.
More than 70,000 schools nationwide were analyzed based on a variety of factors, including student-teacher ratios, district spending, number of counselors, and percentage of full-time certified teachers.
U.S. News & World Report used data from the U.S. Department of Education to create school rankings based on four metrics: math and reading proficiency; Schools in the analysis were given a score based on a formula that took into account four criteria and socio-economic background.
Locally, Weston Middle School placed 8th, Hopkinton Middle School 11th and Wayland Middle School 19th. These districts also ranked among the highest ranked high schools in the state.

At the bottom of the middle school rankings are several high schools that include middle school grades. The rankings also include charter schools.
