“I’ve worked in the retail industry for 21 years. I was an assistant manager at Kmart when they officially came here,” Carrillo said.
But with all Kmart stores in Colorado closed, she was unable to take the next step.
“I felt kind of sad when this store went out of business because they had been my family for so many years, and I literally refused to go work for anyone else,” Carrillo said. said.
So she decided to start her own business. On Saturday, she and several businesses there were offering doorbuster deals. And while lowering prices may not make you rich right away, the strategy is to attract people and keep them coming back, she says.
“The most important thing is to let people know about us. You know we’re here. We have the clothes and things you need for your vacation.” Carrillo said.
These days, many Coloradans do most of their shopping online. In fact, digital data collection company Loqate says Colorado is the state with the most online shoppers for Black Friday.
Carrillo says shopping for clothes, especially clothing, is best done in person.
“We have what they want. I feel like I have enough experience, you know, to know what our people like,” Carrillo said. said.
