Sarasota County high schools rank at the top of their class, according to state rankings.
Pine View School was the highest-performing public high school in Florida out of 1,169 schools in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report rankings. According to the evaluation, Pine View is also ranked 18th among high schools in the nation.

Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy in Broward County, Westshore Middle/High School in Brevard County, Archmedian Upper Conservatory Charter School in Miami-Dade County, Stanton College Preparatory School in Duval County, and Edgewood. Suncoast Technical High School and Riverview High School were ranked in the top 100 Sarasota County high schools in the state, ranking 37th and 71st, respectively.

Pine View serves students in grades 2 through 12, with a total population of 1,745 and a high school population of 695. The school offers college preparatory courses for gifted students and was ranked the 7th best magnet high school in the nation.
Of the three Sarasota County schools in Florida’s top 100, Riverview High School has the largest population at 2,589 students, while Suncoast Polytechnic has the smallest at 585 students.
Pine View received a score of 99.9 out of 100 in the US World and News ratings, but the only category scored below 100% was 99% for reading comprehension. Pine View’s graduation rate, science skill score, and math skill score are 100%, and 100% of high school students take and pass at least one AP exam.
The school regularly receives awards and recognition locally and nationally. Maggie Higgins, a seventh-grade foreign language teacher at Pine View School, is a finalist for the Sarasota County Teacher of the Year Award, which the district will announce on Dec. 12.
