The good news is that you can reap the benefits of grounding even when you’re indoors. I use and recommend earthing sheets to stay grounded while I sleep every night.
What is grounding/earthing?
Earthing or “grounding” refers to connecting your body to the electrical energy of the Earth. “Grounding” traditionally meant connecting electrical equipment to earth for safety purposes. Earthing is a new term that refers to intentional physical contact with the Earth for health benefits.
Cable TV installer Clint Ober is known as a pioneer of the modern earthing movement. He started this conversation through his 2010 book inspired by health experiments. He also founded the Earthing Institute, which supports scientific research into the benefits of Earthing.

What is earth sheet?
Earthing bed sheets (also known as earthing sheets) are special flat or fitted sheets designed to connect your body with the earth’s natural charge at night. This is based on the idea that direct contact with the earth causes free electrons from the earth’s surface to flow into the body.

How to use earthing products safely
First, make sure your home’s electrical system is properly grounded before using the outlet-based grounding sheet. Some grounding products come with outlet checkers and product testers so you can be sure you have a grounded outlet. If you are unsure about your specific wall outlet, please consult an electrician.
Place the sheet on top of the mattress as you would a fitted sheet or flat sheet. Make sure to cover areas that come in direct contact with your skin while sleeping. Attach the string that comes with the seat to the seat body. The other end of the code does one of the following:
If your home’s electrical system is properly grounded, plug it into the grounding port of a standard wall outlet (third prong). Connect directly to the earth by attaching it to a grounding rod installed outdoors.
Once you are in bed, make sure that your skin (feet, legs, or any part of your body) is touching the conductive part of the sheet while you sleep. Direct contact is required to ground and benefit.

When using a ground sheet
Using earthing sheets while sleeping is ideal for long-term continuous contact and may improve sleep quality and promote recovery. However, there is no need to use earthing sheets or earthing mats until bedtime. Here are some additional ideas on when to use them:
Rest or Relax: Using a grounding sheet while reading, meditating, or napping can help you feel calmer and reduce stress. Work: If you spend long hours sitting at your desk, place a grounding sheet over your chair to stay grounded. Post-workout recovery: When used after exercise, resting on a grounded seat can help reduce delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). If you feel pain or inflammation: If you have chronic pain or inflammation, consider using an earthing sheet while resting. Maybe you can leave it on a designated sofa. It may help reduce these symptoms over time.
So, in what cases should you avoid using a grounding sheet?Here are some precautions.
Precautions when using earth sheet
If you have a medical device such as a pacemaker, be aware that connecting to earth may interfere with the medical device. People who are sensitive to electromagnetic waves may also have trouble using a grounding sheet. If any of these situations apply to you, consult your health care professional before use.
If the grounding sheet is damaged or not properly grounded, it can create a safety risk. Make sure all components are in working order and properly connected. Similarly, if the outlet you plan to use is poorly grounded, it may even become unsafe. Please test that the outlet is properly grounded before use.
Avoid using grounding sheets during thunderstorms. If lightning strikes nearby, it is dangerous to ground. However, the chances of anything happening are very low.
Grounding sheets are also useful for children, especially for sleep and relaxation. Please keep in mind the same precautions as above. For infants or young children, consult your pediatrician first. Young children have sensitive skin and may react differently.
Also, ask your pediatrician if your child has any medical conditions or uses a device such as an insulin pump or pacemaker.
How to find high quality earthing sheets
So how do you find a good set of earthing sheets? Look for conductive ones made with organic cotton and sterling silver fibers. It should contain at least 5% metal, but 10% is more effective. If the earthing mat is to be used in a place other than the bed, conductive carbon can be used instead of cotton.
