Construction of DFW Airport’s long-awaited private luxury terminal appears to be moving forward.
Construction on the 15,517-square-foot space, which will cost about $4 million, will begin on Jan. 6, with a completion date of Jan. 31, according to recent filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Private Suites PS at DFW will provide the best service for commercial passengers in the new facility, allowing those who can afford it to avoid the stress and disruption typical of modern air travel. While the PS boasts a high-end luxury experience with all the bells and whistles (think gourmet snacks and spa services), its most appealing feature may be private TSA screening and a driver to the tarmac.
Arlington’s Clark Design Company is in charge of January’s sprint. The tenant listed in TDLR’s filing is commercial real estate project manager Andrea Casalboni.
Once completed, the luxury terminal will feature private suites and lounges and will “blend Western tradition with a modern, cosmopolitan sensibility, reflecting the uniqueness of Dallas and Fort Worth,” according to the Dallas Business Journal. PS said.
PS offers all-access annual memberships and pay-per-use pricing. For a one-day membership, a private suite experience is $4,850 one-way for up to four people. Each additional traveler costs $800.
Better late than never
Initial reports suggested DFW PS was scheduled to be operational by spring 2024, after the airport’s board approved the expansion last March and approved a 10-year lease agreement. The cause of the delay is unknown. Perhaps unrelated, the company was acquired by Paris-based airport operator Groupe ADP in August of this year.
CandysDirt.com reached out to a number of parties regarding the status of the project. They responded that they either had no updates to share or did not respond.
PS currently operates luxury terminals at Los Angeles International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In addition to DFW, they also plan to build at Miami International Airport. Annual pass membership fees can run into the thousands of dollars.
Large-scale expansion of DFW is also underway
DFW PS is not the only reinforcement currently underway. Construction began on Tuesday on Terminal F, which when completed will be the airport’s sixth terminal. The new 15-gate, 400,000-square-foot terminal is part of a $4.8 billion expansion plan over the next 10 years.
Terminal E will have an expanded footprint to facilitate the integration of Terminal F, as Terminal F will not have its own designated security checkpoint or baggage claim area. The terminals will be connected by Skylink, but passengers will need to enter through Terminal E.
Renovations are also underway at Terminal C, with plans to expand Terminal A.
According to the Fort Worth Star, DFW Airport CEO Sean Donahue said, “We know construction will impact our customers, but we are carefully considering the steps and communicating with travelers along the way.” “We are doing everything we can to reduce the impact.” telegram.
Terminal F could open as early as 2027.
