I bought this kit two years in a row to take to the beach with my family for rainy day craft projects. The kit comes with a bottle already filled with powdered dye that you activate by adding water, a rubber band for tying, and a few pairs of vinyl gloves to protect your little fingers. You don’t have to soak your clothes in soda ash before dyeing like some kits do.
Using one kit, I had no trouble making 5 adult-sized t-shirts with leftover dye. My kids love the brightly colored rainbows and I’ve washed them for a year and have had no problems with color fading.
If you are using it at the beach, place a plastic garbage bag on the ground and dye over it. After soaking the shirt, roll it up in a plastic trash bag and let it dry in the sun for a few days before rinsing and laundering.
