Work has begun on a new business park on a former brownfield site in Bilston, which the West Midlands Mayor says will pave the way for more than 300 jobs.
CONTRACTORS have broken ground to build a £12.5 million Foundry Business Park on Brook Street, on land that has been vacant for 20 years.
The West Midlands Integration Authority said the 15-acre development would provide office units for small and medium-sized businesses and “help fill a gap in the region”.
Mayor Richard Parker said the investment would “strengthen” the local economy and “build a strong foundation for future growth that will benefit people across the West Midlands”.
The business park development is part of the residential phase of Bilston Urban Village.
The housing estate has 78 homes off Dudley Street and 420 homes off Causley Road.
Councilor Stephen Simkins, leader of Wolverhampton City Council, said it was a “long-term ambition” to bring the plans forward, adding: “The creation of a new industrial and distribution sector that will bring hundreds of jobs to our city I’m glad to see the efforts being made towards this,” he added. residents”.
