Augusta is still recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Helen, but the spotlight is shining brightly on Augusta ahead of Thanksgiving.
U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the 150 Best Places to Live in America, and Augusta was ranked 85th, one of three cities on the list.
Cities in the rankings are evaluated using data from sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI, U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. News’ own internal resources.
The data was categorized into various metrics (healthcare, affordability, well-being, etc.) and evaluated using a methodology determined by Americans’ preferences. The percentage weighting for each index follows responses from a February 2024 public survey in which people across the country voted on what they considered the most important factors to consider when choosing where to live.

Augusta received an overall score of 6.2 out of 10. Quality of life was rated 6.5 and value 7.3. Here’s what US news has to say about it:
