UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State women’s basketball player Gracie Markle has been named to the Big Ten’s weekly honor roll, as announced during Monday afternoon’s meeting. Markle led the Lady Lions to two dominant 100-plus point wins last week with two double-digit scoring performances, including one double-double.
The 6-foot-6 center from Mount Washington, Kentucky, scored 44 points on 19-of-25 shooting (76.0 percent) from the field in two games. She also recorded 19 boards, 12 of them in the Lady Lions’ second win of the week against Monmouth, and used her 20 points on offense to record her second double-double of the season. Markle is the only Penn State player to score in double digits in all five games this season, with two of those five games scoring 20 or more points. Through these two games, Markle totaled 44 points, 19 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 2 assists.
The Kentucky native joined the Lady Lions this season as a transfer from Bellarmine. She led the nation in field goal percentage during her freshman season before being sidelined by an injury during her sophomore season. The tallest Lady Lion in program history shot 70.2 percent from the field and earned ASUN Freshman of the Year honors in 2023.
