University of Virginia men’s tennis alumnus Brian Vahari has been elected president and chairman of the board of directors of the United States Tennis Association. His two-year term begins January 1st.
Bahari, a three-time U.S. champion with the Cavaliers and a successful professional career, will become the youngest chairman of a Grand Slam tournament (the U.S. Open) and the first member of the LGBTQ community to serve in that role.
The USTA is the national governing body for tennis in the United States.

Bahari also named UVA men’s tennis head coach Andres Pedroso as a USTA presidential appointee, serving in a role adjacent to the Board of Governors.
