PITTSBURGH — Brayden Point scored 3:58 into overtime and the Tampa Bay Lightning rallied to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Point’s winning goal in overtime was his 10th goal of the season. Point, who had missed the past two weeks with a lower-body injury, started his comeback game with a goal at the 5:41 mark of the third inning. Anthony Cirelli scored his fifth goal of the season.
Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 17 shots for Tampa Bay.
It was Tampa Bay’s first multi-goal, third-period come-from-behind victory since a 3-2 overtime win over Los Angeles on Jan. 9.
Rickard Rakell scored a power-play goal and Jesse Puljujarvi scored the first goal for Pittsburgh. Rakell ended a nine-game drought with his seventh appearance of the season.
Sidney Crosby recorded the most assists, surpassing Hall of Famer Joe Sakic for the 13th most assists in NHL history and the sixth most by a player with a single franchise. He currently has 1,017 assists. Mario Lemieux is 12th with 1,033.
Tristan Jarry made 32 saves for Pittsburgh.

Penguins: Pittsburgh loses for the fourth time in five games. The Penguins, who have allowed a two-point lead in the third period for the second consecutive game, have lost 12 of 16 games overall.

Point received a pass in the back of the net from JJ Moser. Jarry was out of position on the side of the net when he played Moser’s shot attempt, allowing Point to put the winning goal inside the near post.
