While it can be debated whether Jake Paul is a “real” boxer, what is indisputable is that the 27-year-old is the biggest draw in boxing right now. Paul’s unanimous decision victory over Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas was a huge success in the record-breaking gate.
The main event, which pitted the YouTuber-turned-boxer against the iconic heavyweight champion, was combined with a historic co-main event in which Katie Taylor narrowly defeated Amanda Serrano in a controversial split decision. It became the biggest hurdle for mixed martial arts events. According to a statement from Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, this is the only time in U.S. history that this has happened outside of Las Vegas.
