Amy Walter:
How many years have we been in this state now? Eight years have passed since Donald Trump took office. If you’re a U.S. senator, a Republican senator, and you still don’t understand where to draw the line, that’s a problem.
That was in 2017. You might be surprised. Oh, wait, what? He said this, he did that. If you want to reply to a tweet, how should you respond? How should you respond to that? Now this is all pretty predictable, but his unpredictability.
So I think we’re going to see a lot about picking fights and deciding which way to go, whether to make enemies with Donald Trump or split with the party. What do you agree with, even if you don’t agree with it?
What’s also interesting to me is seeing how Democrats are reacting to many of these nominations, where people like Sen. John Fetterman are responding to each and every one of these nominations. Don’t just get carried away with it, I hear you saying. I see that Colorado Governor Jared Polis has good things to say about RFK Jr.
I think both Democrats and Republicans have now come to the realization that this is about choosing the right battles at the right time.
