DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is proud to announce that two of its schools have earned the highest honor in the state. Kittredge Magnet School and Wadsworth Magnet School for High Achievers were named the No. 1 and No. 2 elementary schools in Georgia, respectively, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report annual rankings.

U.S. News & World Report K-8 rankings are based entirely on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education and consider student background and overall educational effectiveness for students who are proficient in math and reading/language arts. focuses on state evaluations. The student-teacher ratio is used to break ties in the overall score.
Although U.S. News & World Report does not produce national rankings for elementary and middle schools, its K-12 directory lists more than 119,000 schools nationwide. Of the 79,374 public schools with elementary and/or middle school grades, 65,759 (83%) ranked in one category or another.
