“Each year, U.S. News & World Report identifies the top 40 percent performing elementary schools in Minnesota,” said Chris Trostad of Highland School. “I think this is the third year in a row that basically compared to students across the state of Minnesota, Highlands performs better in math and reading, with 46 students testing proficiency or higher in reading. %, and 41% of students were at or above proficiency in reading.” Trostad said Highland students were compared to the state average and performed higher than the state average, ranking in the top 40 in elementary school performance. He said it was within 30%.
In this year’s report, Highland ranks 244th among elementary schools in Minnesota. “This is a tribute to our wonderful staff, hard-working teachers and hard-working support staff,” Trostad said. “We have a great building that is focused on student growth, and I think that’s evident in the track record we’ve had over the past few years.”
Trostad was excited to have Highland in the top 40% again this year. “It’s great PR for our school and great recognition for our teachers and support staff who have worked so hard to give our children the best possible development.
