Congratulations, Napoli. When it comes to the best places to retire in the United States, you are truly the best, the brightest, and second to none.
U.S. News & World Report, the world’s leading authority on rankings and consumer advice, announced today that Naples will top its list of best places to retire in 2024-25. This is a great rating considering 150 quotes were rated.
Equally impressive is Napoli’s rise from 28th place to the top of the table in 2023-2024.

The rankings use measures such as happiness, affordability, health care, desirability, retiree taxes, and the job market to assess how cities meet the expectations of American retirees, U.S. News & World Report said in a press release. He said it is based on how responsive they are.
This year, U.S. News adjusted its scores to make happiness the most important of the six factors in its 2025 Best Places to Retire methodology. The methodology also includes metrics such as affordability, quality of care, retiree taxes, desirability, and the job market.
Perhaps that’s why Napoli took first place in this year’s ranking.
Retirees noted that the overall well-being of a location’s residents was a top priority when deciding where to retire this year, contributing to Naples’ No. 1 ranking, according to a press release. That’s what it means.
Napoli also received high scores for desirability, retirement taxes and the job market.
“The 2025 Best Places for Retirement rankings reflect the top cities across the country that best meet the needs and desires of retirees,” said Dawn Bradbury, deputy editor for real estate at U.S. News. “What we learned this year is that retirees are looking for destinations that are not only places to spend money, but also places to have fun, which is why the Midwest and South dominate the top 25.”
Only two other Florida cities made the top 10: Sarasota (4th) and Jacksonville (7th).

The six indicators included in this year’s rankings are weighted based on public surveys of people who have reached or are approaching retirement age (45 years and older) and are We’re looking at what’s most important when considering.
Data sources include the U.S. Census Bureau, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Risk Index, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Labor Statistics, ShareCare, and U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings.
