Former “The View” host Rosie Perez was in the broadcast booth Friday for Netflix’s Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight.
Perez is an actress who served as the grand marshal of the International Boxing Hall of Fame Parade in 2013, and some have nicknamed her the “First Lady of Boxing.”

“I learned boxing because I used to get beaten up a lot. And I was rough. Even if I lost, I always fought back,” she told the Guardian in 2022.
Perez also served as a temporary host on ABC’s “The View” earlier this year, contributing his thoughts on the recent election multiple times and often expressing opposition to President-elect Donald Trump.
On his Oct. 14 show, Perez criticized President Trump’s response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017.
“He blocked federal funding and threw paper towels at us!” Perez said.
She also pointed to the level of Latino unemployment under the Trump administration and reports that Trump sent COVID-19 tests to Russia.
“Go to the polls and vote for Kamala Harris,” Perez told Latino voters.
After President Trump’s Oct. 27 rally at Madison Square Garden, Perez joined the many liberal voices criticizing Tony Hinchcliffe’s comedy show for jokingly calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash.” I was alone.
“I’m angry and hurt,” Perez said in an Oct. 31 interview on MSNBC. “But I have to say, they picked the wrong people.”
“We’re not going to accept it, we’re not going to sit back and accept it…I think a lot of people are going to vote.”
Trump won the electoral college and the popular vote, winning the highest percentage of Latino voters of any Republican candidate in modern times.
On Nov. 6, Perez acknowledged Trump’s election victory in an Instagram post with an image of a quote from famed poet Toni Morrison. Perez acknowledged that many people were “disappointed and saddened” by the outcome, but said Americans “if we truly believe in democracy, we must respect it.”
But since then, Perez’s only activity on his social media channels has revolved around boxing. Now she’s put aside her political differences with Paul and Tyson and is in the booth to broadcast one of the biggest events in sports history.

Paul and Tyson are vocal supporters of President Trump, and their relationship with Tyson dates back to a personal friendship with President Trump during the height of the boxer’s career. Tyson supported Trump in his first presidential election in 2016, and acknowledged this in an interview with HuffPost Life in October of the same year.
“He should be the president of the United States. That’s what he should be…Why are people angry at the people? Because this is the person the people want to be president,” Tyson said. “Let’s try something new. No matter the color, let’s run America like a business. People who can do the job will get the job.”
Paul endorsed Trump in a video, impassionedly urging his supporters to vote for the former president on October 31st.
“Do the right thing and vote for Donald Trump. Not because I said so, not because Beyoncé said so, but because it’s the right thing to do. … Please, for the love of God, vote for Donald Trump. Exercise your right to vote.’ This election is about America voting for Donald Trump,” Paul said.
“Democrats have been in power for 12 of the past 16 years. So if we’re not happy with our current political, economic, and environmental conditions, who’s to blame?”
But that hasn’t caused Perez to have nothing but positive and exciting things to say about the boxer and their hyped fight.

Perez sat in on an interview with Tyson for Interview Magazine, in which he revealed that Tyson avoided AIDS even though he had sex with a woman who also had the disease.
Perez thanked Tyson for sitting down and sharing these details with him in an X post on Tuesday.
