The owner of a Staten Island bakery has disputed claims by “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg that the store refused to serve her because of her opinions.
Goldberg said on Wednesday’s midday show that the established bakery turned down his cupcakes because of his liberal views.
Jill Halterman, owner of Halterman’s Bakery on Staten Island, said she was unable to fill orders because of boiler issues.
Staten Island Borough President Vito Fosella explained what happened and Holterman thanked the public for their support.
“We’ve been here 145 years. The boiler was 60 or 70 years old, and the first week of November, guess what? It broke down,” Fossella said.

Mr. Halterman thanked the community for its support following the controversy.
