Some fans booed during the Israeli national anthem at the Stade de France, and a minor altercation broke out during Thursday’s UEFA Nations League match between the two countries.
When Maccabi Tel Aviv played Ajax last week, security was stepped up and police were deployed before the match after Israeli supporters were attacked in Amsterdam.
Approximately 4,000 French security personnel patrolled inside and outside the stadium and on public transportation.
The Israeli government also warned its citizens against attending sporting or cultural events knowing that a soccer match was coming up, following the attack in Amsterdam.

According to Reuters, about 100 Israeli fans were seen sitting in a corner of the Stade de France, which had a capacity of 16,611 and was less than 80,000 people in attendance.
The Israeli national anthem was played before the game began, and “boos and whistles” could be heard during the performance.

Israeli supporters waved yellow balloons and chanted “Free the hostages” in reference to the hostages still held by Hamas.
According to Reuters, during the match a scuffle broke out near where Israeli fans were sitting.
There had already been friction in the lead-up to the match, with anti-Israel demonstrators waving Palestinian flags in the Saint-Denis district of Paris, and an Israeli team also arriving in the city.
Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, released an exclusive statement to FOX News Digital on November 7 in response to the attack in Amsterdam.

“A pogrom is being waged against Jews and Israelis in Amsterdam,” Danon said. “2024. This has to stop. The ‘globalization of the intifada’ was not just a slogan for these sponsors of terrorism. I call on the Dutch government to immediately support all Israelis and Jews. The time has come to confront these brutal mobs with force.”
In the United States, the Israeli embassy posted a graphic video of the violence and said, “The mob that targeted innocent Israelis proudly shared their acts.”
Rep. Richie Torres (D.N.Y.) condemned the violence in a post on X.
“The hysterical and hyperbolic demonization of Israel has led to a global outbreak of anti-Semitic abuse, vandalism and violence,” he wrote. “The most horrifying manifestation of anti-Semitism is the pogrom currently unfolding against hundreds of Jews who were rooting for the Tel Aviv Football Club in Amsterdam.

“Those who incite anti-Semitism now have the blood of the pogroms of the 21st century on their hands,” he wrote. “The situation is so dire that the Israeli government is sending rescue teams to help Jews in danger. It’s disgusting that pogroms are still happening in the 21st century.”

The incident occurred 13 months after Hamas launched terrorist attacks against Israel, killing and kidnapping hundreds of people.
