Sarasota Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was named the best nursing home in the nation for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care in the recently released annual “Best Nursing Homes” ratings by U.S. News and World Report.

Less than 20% of the more than 15,000 skilled nursing facilities in the United States earn one of the two Best Nursing Home rankings awarded by U.S. News. SMH’s skilled nursing facilities received the highest ratings for both “short-term rehabilitation” and “long-term care.”
In a Nov. 12 release, the magazine listed nine facilities in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

In this year’s study, U.S. News evaluated patient and resident outcomes, including infection rates. Staffing levels. In announcing the award, U.S. News noted that health systems and nursing homes cannot opt out of these annual surveys or pay to be on the list.

Newsweek ranking
For its rankings, Newsweek partnered with Statista, a respected global data research firm, to identify the 1,050 nursing homes with the largest number of nursing homes out of approximately 15,000 in 25 states, according to data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Awarded.
The top nursing homes in each state were evaluated and ranked based on four pillars: performance data, recommendations from medical professionals, certifications, and resident satisfaction.

Among facilities with 50 to 99 beds, Sunnyside Village, with 60 beds, was ranked.
The 204-bed Pines of Sarasota Rehabilitation & Senior Care Community (1501 N. Orange Ave.) ranked among facilities with more than 150 beds.
