Billionaire Mark Cuban has signaled he will take a break from talking about politics after Donald Trump won the election.
“FYI, don’t expect any politics or speculation about what will happen for a while. I’m sure there will be plenty to comment on when the time comes,” he wrote on social media platform Blue Sky on Tuesday. “
Cuban, a part-owner of the Dallas Mavericks and a former Shark Tank investor, was an active supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris on the campaign trail. He was also an outspoken critic of Trump in the lead-up to the election, describing Trump as a “threat” with “fascist tendencies.”
“In a normal world, both parties would come together and say, ‘Let’s stop this name-calling, let’s just focus on the problem,'” Cuban previously said, co-anchoring ABC News’ “This Week.” told Jonathan Karl.
“But this is not a normal world. Donald Trump is not a normal candidate. And I don’t think it’s a stretch to call Donald Trump a fascist.”
Newsweek reached out to Cuban via email.
Even before the campaign was officially called, Cuban was quick to congratulate Trump on his victory, writing on X (formerly Twitter) that he won “fairly and squarely.”
Mr. Cuban also congratulated Mr. Trump’s supporter, billionaire Elon Musk, on his victory and suggested that Mr. Musk had significant influence over the election.
Mr. Cuban previously said the election was actually between Mr. Harris and Mr. Musk, not between the two presidential candidates.
Since Trump’s victory, Cuban has started posting to Blue Sky. The platform was originally founded by then-Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and is now under different leadership and a rival to X.
Mr. Cuban posted “Hello Less Hateful World” on Blue Sky, an apparent criticism of Company X, which is owned by Mr. Musk and has become an increasingly right-wing platform under Mr. Musk’s ownership. has been criticized.
Cuban also posted on X as if he was trolling other users of the platform, writing, “How to drive @X users crazy.”
Brusky said new user participation increased in the week after the election.
After the election, Mr. Cuban also appears to have deleted some of his pro-Harris posts on X.
In response, Cuban told “If you really want to see it, you can use the wayback machine.”
