The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) return from a Week 9 bye and travel to Landover to take on the hard-fought Washington Commanders (7-2).
In the final round of 2020, the Commanders played spoiler, defeating the Steelers, who were 11-0 at the time, 23-17. This began a three-game losing streak, and Pittsburgh finished the 2024 season with a 1-5 record, including the playoffs.
Washington leads the head-to-head series 43-33-3 (all regular season).
The Steelers are relatively healthy coming off their bye week, with most of their injured players practicing at full capacity Wednesday.

Justin Fields injury update
On Wednesday, Steelers backup quarterback Justin Fields (hamstring) participated fully in practice. Mike Tomlin was as vague as ever on Tuesday, saying, “As long as[Fields and Wilson]are on our roster, I always expect to see them.” It is unclear whether he will be able to be seen taking snaps.
Cordarrelle Patterson injury update
The bye week was good for Cordarrelle Patterson, who missed the final four games with an ankle injury. Before his early exit against the Indianapolis Colts, Patterson ran well in place of Jalen Warren, averaging 7.17 yards per carry and gaining 43 yards on six attempts. Patterson was also 2-of-2 receiving for 19 yards.
Zack Frazier injury update
The bye week was also a much-needed break for Zach Frazier, who had a full practice on Wednesday. The rookie center was playing at a high level until he injured his ankle in the Steelers’ Week 6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
