The Washington Commanders acquired cornerback Marshon Lattimore in a trade with the New Orleans Saints, pending physical examination.
Washington sent Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick to the Saints in exchange for third-, fourth-, and sixth-round picks in the 2025 draft.
Lattimore, the 11th overall pick by the Saints in the 2017 draft, played in 97 games, often starting. He has 405 tackles, 15 interceptions, 88 pass breakups and five forced fumbles in his eight-year career. Two of Lattimore’s interceptions were returned for touchdowns.
Lattimore has been voted to the Pro Bowl four times in his career, including three in a row from 2019-2021. He first appeared in the Pro Bowl after his rookie season in 2017, when he had five interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 18 pass breakups, and 53 tackles. He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year. According to Pro Football Focus, Lattimore had a catch rate of just 53.8% and no touchdowns.
From 2019 to 2021, Lattimore had six interceptions, 44 pass breakups and 187 tackles. During that span, the Saints were a top-15 team in passing yards in 2020 and 2021. The quarterback also had the fourth-lowest passer rating in each season.
Lattimore played in seven games this season, recording 30 tackles and two pass breakups.
