The Bears traded running back Khalil Herbert to the Bengals on Tuesday in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round draft pick.
Herbert was selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech and is in his fourth season in the NFL. The veteran appeared in five games with the team this season, finishing with eight carries for 16 yards.
In 48 games with the Bears, Herbert had 1,791 rushing yards on 372 carries and nine touchdowns. Herbert also caught 45 passes for 291 yards and two scores.
Herbert also served as a kick returner for the Bears, returning 27 kicks for 650 yards in 2021, primarily as a rookie. This season, Herbert has taken one kickoff and returned it 28 yards.
The Bears currently have eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Bears acquired a 2025 second-round pick as part of a blockbuster trade with the Panthers. They sent the 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick to Carolina in exchange for receiver DJ Moore and four picks, resulting in right tackle Darnell Wright, cornerback Tyrik Stephenson, quarterback Caleb Williams, and punter Caleb Williams. Tori Taylor was selected.
As part of a trade with the Bills, they moved a 2025 fourth-round pick to a fifth-round pick in last year’s draft and selected defensive end Austin Booker. They traded their own 2025 sixth-round pick to the Seahawks in August for defensive end Darrell Taylor, but traded them to the Dolphins and receiver Chase Claypool last October, and to the Steelers and quarterback in March. They acquired two 2025 sixth-round picks in a trade for running back Justin Fields. . The Steelers’ pick could be a fourth-round pick, depending on Fields’ playing time. They traded a Dolphins pick to the Browns in August in exchange for defensive tackle Chris Williams and a 2025 seventh-round pick.
