My name is Andrew McCulloch. He is a veteran sports reporter who has covered recruiting, high school and college sports throughout the state of Texas.
My career as a sportswriter has taken me all over the Lone Star State. I am excited to begin my next chapter in Abilene as a reporter covering Abilene Christian and local high school sports.

I started covering Texas high school sports in my hometown of Houston during my senior year of high school, writing about the school’s football, basketball, and baseball teams.

I then moved north, but continued writing and reporting on high school sports while attending the University of Missouri, where I also spent time covering SEC football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball.
I returned to Texas immediately after graduation, settled in McAllen, and wrote for the Monitor, which covered sports throughout the Rio Grande Valley. While working as a sports reporter at RGV, I covered dozens of high schools in South Texas.
He also served as a beat reporter for UTRGV men’s basketball, writing about WAC hoops and helping cover international friendly soccer games and G League basketball.
After two years covering RGV, I returned to my hometown to cover high school sports in Texas and recruit statewide news for SBLive Sports, Sports Illustrated’s high school sports division.
I’ve driven all over the state from Houston and criss-crossed the Lone Star State to report and write about the biggest news, most talented teams, and best stories in Texas high school sports.
I covered many UIL state championship games and had the opportunity to see the top performances of some of the state’s top high school athletes.
