Des Moines, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol) – Iowa Attorney General Brenna Byrd (R) is the first statewide official to endorse Donald Trump for president.
President Trump has long claimed that the 2020 election was “rigged,” even though court rulings and state investigations have debunked those claims.
Byrd did not say the election was fraudulent in an interview with Iowa Gray Media, but said he could not say the election was secure.
Byrd said she believes in elections because Iowa requires a photo ID to vote. But she said the same can’t be said for other states because not all states require photo ID.
According to Ballotpedia, there are 35 states in the United States that require ID.
Pete Buttigieg, winner of the 2020 Iowa Democratic caucuses, told Iowa Gray Media that Kamala Harris will be a different president than Joe Biden.
He said she brings her own experience to the job. Buttigieg said he doesn’t think Democrats are placing too much emphasis on abortion rights this election cycle and that candidates should be able to discuss other issues that are important to voters.
National polls show that while abortion is important to voters, economic issues and border security are just as important.
