The wife of a missionary killed in a “violent criminal attack” in Africa last week has been arrested in connection with the missionary’s death, the church has announced.
Beau Schroyer, 44, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, was killed on October 25th while on a missionary trip to Angola, Africa, with his wife and five children.
Schroyer’s parish, Lakes Area Vineyard Church, announced in a statement Friday that his wife, Jackie Schroyer, had been arrested, but provided no other details.
“Today, we are deeply saddened and saddened to learn that his wife, Jackie Schroyer, has been arrested in connection with his death,” senior pastor Troy M. Easton said in a statement. said.
The pastor continued, saying he has “no words to express his disbelief and sadness” after hearing the news of her arrest.
The family immigrated to this country three years ago to serve as missionaries for an organization called SIM.
The pastor said the couple’s five children are “well taken care of” at this time.
After Schroyer’s death, SIM released a statement saying it was “working closely” with Lakes Area Vineyard Church to “take care of the Schroyer family’s five children.”
Mark Bosher, SIM USA’s chief human resources officer and general counsel, told the Detroit Lakes Tribune that SIM USA “has taken steps to ensure appropriate legal representation for Jackie.”
The Schroyer family previously spoke to the Detroit Lakes Tribune about their move to Angola.
They told the magazine they planned to move to a “remote bush village” with no electricity.
Jackie said her family plans to teach area residents about Christianity and the love of God.
Before becoming a missionary, Beau was a member of the Detroit Lakes Police Department and a real estate agent.
