The partnership aims to attract sports technology companies to the city to foster industrial innovation in Indiana.
INDIANAPOLIS — The Ray Uley Sports Engineering Center (RESEC) is accelerating its growth in Indianapolis thanks to a new partnership. Purdue University is partnering with the SportsTech Headquarters in the center’s new home at the U.S. headquarters of internationally recognized motorsports manufacturer Dallara located at the Speedway. Purdue City and SportsTech Headquarters are working together to attract industry leaders and collaborators to Indiana’s capital with plans to capitalize on the momentum of the sports technology sector, which continues to see tremendous growth and investment around the world. We are working on this.
The partnership, announced Tuesday (Oct. 29), is part of the Sports Tech Headquarters Showcase, which includes One-Zero, the premier global sports tech conference, to be held in downtown Indianapolis from Dec. 12-14. It is scheduled to officially launch in December. The annual Indy Classic (December 14th) will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with the Purdue men’s basketball team taking on Texas A&M University. Purdue representatives will join One-Zero’s leading venture capitalists, founders and sports executives to discuss the next wave of innovation in sports. The Indy Classic provides a dynamic showcase of sports technology, highlighting cutting-edge innovations both in the stadium and on the national broadcast of the game.
“The Sportstech Headquarters’ proven ability to approach and attract technology-based and sports-oriented companies is exemplary,” said Jan-Anders Mansson, Executive Director of RESEC and Distinguished Professor of Materials and Chemical Engineering. Ta. “This partnership provides a great opportunity for RESEC to work with both large and small businesses in the Sports Tech Group, with these organizations benefiting greatly from the steady influx of skilled Purdue engineers into the workforce. This will foster growth that positions Indiana as a world leader in sports technology. ”
Named in honor of record-setting Olympian and Purdue School of Engineering alumnus Ray Uley, RESEC is a joint venture between the School of Engineering and the Purdue Department of Athletics. Its three priorities are the integrity of the competition, the health and safety of participants, and audience participation. Technology bridges the gap between these priorities, and engineering and data science are at the heart of all three. By taking an innovative approach to these priorities, Purdue is meeting the growing demand for richer sports experiences, ensuring that motorsports, Olympic, professional sports, and collegiate sports all have a significant presence and influence. and help drive the sports technology market in Indianapolis. This partnership is in line with the College of Engineering’s Vision 2030 initiative.
