Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle injury, giving manager Mikel Arteta a much-needed boost.
The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Odegaard is expected to return to training on grass this week after sustaining ankle ligament damage while playing for Norway in September.
The 25-year-old’s return could not come at a better time as Arsenal prepare for tough games against Newcastle, Inter Milan and Chelsea.
There is still uncertainty as to when Odegaard will be fit enough to be selected, but Norwegian manager Starre Solbakken has expressed a desire to include him in the squad for the next international match. The midfielder’s recovery will therefore be closely watched by both Arsenal and the Norwegian national team. break.
Arsenal are also keeping an eye on the fitness of Gabriel and Julian Timber. Both suffered knocks during the recent 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Initial assessments indicate that neither injury is expected to be long-term.
Timber experienced a calf strain that appears to be a cramp, and Gabriel is awaiting the results of a knee scan on Tuesday, but early signs are promising.
Additionally, Ricardo Calafioli is expected to miss several weeks with a knee injury, but concerns about him being out for a long period of time have been dispelled.
