No team in Major League Baseball has won more World Series than the New York Yankees.
No team has lost more World Series than the Los Angeles Dodgers.
But with three games left until the 2024 World Series, the Dodgers seem intent on reversing the tide of history. The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday, taking a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Dodgers could win their first championship since 2020 as early as Tuesday in Game 4 at Yankee Stadium.
Freddie Freeman’s two-run homer against Yankees starter Clark Schmidt gave the Dodgers the lead. They never looked back.

Freeman became the third player in World Series history to hit a home run in each of the first three games of the series, joining Hank Bauer in 1958 and Barry Bonds in 2002. He did not hit a home run in the Dodgers’ NL Division Series. A win over the San Diego Padres or the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets.
Freeman has been on fire ever since he ended Game 1 against the Yankees with the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history. Not the ankle sprain that caused him to miss two games against the Mets.
“My ankle feels a lot better,” Freeman told FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal in an on-field interview immediately after the game. “I was able to calm down on my days off, get treatment, and work on my swing. That was the key.”
Los Angeles starting pitcher Walker Buehler pitched five innings, then turned the ball over to the bullpen to pitch the final four innings. New York was forced into its final out in the ninth inning, when former Dodgers outfielder Alex Verdugo hit a two-run homer off Michael Kopech for the winning run.
Buehler won each of his first three World Series starts and allowed just one point in those three games combined.
“He’s been doing this his entire career,” Freeman said of Buehler on FOX. “Big games, big moments. … This is what you have to do. You have to pitch in October, and that’s what we did.”
Two days after sliding to second base with a partially dislocated shoulder, Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani became the leadoff batter, going 0-for-1 with one walk.

The team that lost the first three games of the World Series has never won or even forced a Game 6. Game 4 will be played Tuesday at Yankee Stadium, followed by Game 5 if necessary.
For the Yankees to survive this series, they also need to win Games 6 and 7, which will be played in Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday.

They will need more production from their lineup if they are to even dream of a comeback.
Gleyber Torres was 0-for-3 on Monday with two walks and one strikeout. Aaron Judge was 0-for-3 with one walk and a strikeout. Giancarlo Stanton had two hits in the fifth inning, including a double, but was thrown off while trying to score on Anthony Volpe’s single to left fielder Teoscar Hernández, the last out of the inning.
“We’re not surprised,” Hernandez said of the Dodgers’ 3-0 lead. “We know we can do this. We have a great team. We have a group of players that can do this.”
