The final regular season game between the hosting South Prairie Max Royals and the visiting Stanley Blue Jays took place on Monday, October 28th at the South Prairie Gym. Despite competitive play by the visiting Blue Jays, the No. 5 Royals won 25-10, 25-12, 25-7 on their home court.
South Prairie Max led from start to finish in the first and third slots. The Blue Jays had the upper hand early in frame two, and it looked like the game would be tied at 1-1, but they were able to close the lead and then used a steady stream of solid serves and more accurate attacks. They chased the home team based on passing.
The home Royals were led by coach Reagan Trudel with 25 assists, three aces, and seven digs. Azsia Trader had eight kills, two blocks, and eight digs for the win. Scottie Beck had six kills, and Abby Mickelson, Kyra Francis and Skylar Beck each had five kills. Delaney Kunkel had three aces and nine digs for the home team.
The Royals are the No. 2 seed in Region 6, District 12. The District 12 tournament begins Thursday, Oct. 31, at Minot Auditorium, with South Prairie Max facing No. 7 seed Surry in the third game of the tournament.
The first match is between No. 1 seed Our Redeemer’s and No. 8 seed Mohall Lunsford Sherwood. Tournament doors open at 2:00 p.m. and first match will be played at 3:00 p.m.
North Prairie 3, Bottineau 1
The No. 3 seed in Region 6, District 11 traveled to North Prairie for the final tune-up game before the district tournament. The North Prairie home team took a 25-15 lead in the first set, but Bottineau won the second set 25-20 to tie the score at 1-1.
The home team tightened the game, winning the next two frames 25-9 and 25-16 to secure the victory on their home court.
Bottineau will face Nedros, the No. 6 seed in District 11, in the first round of the second game of the tournament on Thursday, Oct. 31, at Belva High School.
Harvey Wells County 3, Dunseith 0
Harvey Wells County traveled to Dunseith for a game before the postseason began over the weekend. The visiting team won the contest by scores of 25-9, 25-16, and 25-16, resulting in a road victory.
Tioga 3, Trinity Christian 0
Tioga traveled to Trinity Christian late in the regular season and won on the road, defeating the home team 25-12, 25-9, 25-17.
Tioga is the No. 4 seed in District 16 and will play No. 5 seed Divide County in the first game Thursday at Divide County High School.
