Following extensive research, the Golf Club Pay Commission (CGCS) has recommended a 5% pay increase for golf club staff in 2025.
This increase will be added to the salary calculator provided on the CGCS website and will take into account the National Living Wage increase, which will be set at 5.8% in 2025. The recommendations also take into account the current economic environment and the importance of golf facility staff. For the entire industry.
CGCS’ salary calculations also take into account geographic region, facility size, primary responsibilities, club ratings, qualifications, and experience, ensuring recommendations tailored to each individual member of staff.
Research is also being conducted to enable the creation of calculators for additional golf facility roles, such as assistant manager, equipment manager, and chief mechanic.
The CGCS is made up of representatives from the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) and the Golf Club Managers Association (GCMA), as well as independent golf club professionals.
As in previous years, CGCS says these recommendations are aimed at ensuring golf facility staff receive appropriate pay and recognition from their employers in today’s turbulent economic environment. Although the CGCS does not have the authority to force golf facilities to adopt these recommendations, the Commission does urge golf courses to seriously consider adopting these recommendations, given the increasing difficulty in attracting qualified new staff. We ask that you consider this.
Alongside pay, golf clubs ensure that growing concerns such as mental health and wellbeing are given appropriate consideration and resources, as well as adequate opportunities for career path support, training and development. It is also required.
