A new monument has been installed on the National Mall, a few blocks west of the Capitol, that can only be described as a bronze poop emoji placed above former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk.
An art installation at Washington’s newest tourist attraction reads, “This memorial honors the brave men and women who invaded, looted, urinated, and defecated at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.” It has a stone pedestal with a carved nameplate. Open the hallowed halls to overturn the election. ”
The artwork itself does not say who created it, but Julia Jimenez-Pyzik of Civic Crafted LLC will be there from today until October 31st, according to a public gathering permit provided to NBC News by the National Park Service. He has applied to install it in
The permit called for “the exhibition of two works of art to express the principles of democratic justice and freedom.”
According to the permit, the work appears to be called “The Resolute Desk.”
“This desk represents the center of democracy, where decisions are made, voices are heard and the future is shaped,” the permit states. “It is more than just a place to work, it is a testament to the ideals of transparency, accountability and representation.”
“Here, the power of the people is expressed through the hard work of those who serve the public good,” it continues. “When a mob storms in to destroy these ideals, this desk stands firm, and just as it stands firm, so must the principles of equality, justice, and freedom it represents.”
The permit also states that another statue, “Tiki Torch,” depicting a hand reaching out from a stone pedestal, will be installed. It is scheduled to be installed at 7 a.m. Oct. 28 at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House, according to the permit.
